Begin on the Ground

Introductory Four Week Program

Begin on the Ground is a ground-based horse program for adults living with trauma, stress, or PTSD. Through guided work with horses, participants practice nervous system regulation, boundaries, trust, and connection—without riding, pressure, or performance.

Horses are highly sensitive to movement, energy, pressure, breath, and intention. In this work, the horse becomes a steady, honest partner—not something to control, but someone to listen to.

Participants are invited to notice what happens in their own body, practice softening pressure, create clear boundaries, and experience connection at a pace that feels safe.

Participants begin by practicing grounding, awareness, and calm presence around the horse. From there, they explore how trust develops through clear boundaries, patience, and nonverbal communication. The work supports a growing sense of confidence, choice, and partnership while honoring the pace of both horse and person.

Shelly Dyer developed the Begin on the Ground curriculum and brings extensive experience in equine instruction, trauma-informed advocacy, and safety-focused leadership to the program. She leads each session with a thoughtful approach centered on regulation, trust, boundaries, and connection.

Classes are one hour long on Wednesday evenings starting at 6pm on July 29th.
